Trading Depot Overview - My experiences from the last trading week 14.07.2024
Depot Review
Last week, things got pretty intense in terms of portfolio performance. On the one hand, as announced in the last portfolio update, there was an increased switch to the long side in the short term, which brought with it some trades and the associated portfolio performance. Including all book profits and losses, I was able to increase the current performance by 5.07 percent compared to the previous week. The current performance is now 40.07 percent since the portfolio was launched on December 1, 2023.
Trades executed
Due to the expected rapid change in sentiment on the financial markets, I was able to execute a number of trades. Of these, the long positions on the DAX and the short position on the Dow Jones ended in the red. I also increased the long position on US copper, which ultimately closed in the red. I was also able to profit disproportionately from the profit of the short trade on Brent Crude. After the US economic data on Friday, I opened a long position in the Nasdaq 100 Index, which I would have liked to have held for longer. However, there was short-term weakness that I did not want to see in this environment. Therefore, I closed the position on Friday evening with a profit. In addition, a further long position was opened during the week. These included Hermes, Ameresco and gold, as well as the reentry of the short position in Brent Crude Oil.
Planned procedure
If the strength in the indices continues, I will raise the stop loss orders in my short positions if necessary and implement further long trades. These include, for example, Rheinmetall and SGS SA. However, I am monitoring the current situation very closely. In addition to important economic data and quarterly figures from important US companies, the focus is primarily on the ECB interest rate decision on July 18th. The current mood, especially seasonal, can change very quickly and lead to downward pressure again.
In addition to the blog that is actively maintained here, my information portal Investment.Traders contains other exciting articles, detailed stock analyses, presentations of various investment opportunities and a weekly update in video form. This is my contribution to financial education in Germany.
