Trading Depot Overview - My experiences from the last trading week 28.07.2024
Depot Review
The previous trading week was a highly volatile week. This one will be even more volatile. Due to the strong downward movement followed by a dynamic reversal, I had to position myself accordingly. The portfolio performance was just as volatile. Including all book gains and losses, the portfolio performance since December 1, 2023 is now at 35.86 percent. This corresponds to a decrease of 1.52 percent compared to the previous week. Manageable if I take the volatile phase into account.
Trades executed
As mentioned at the beginning, the fast and dynamic movements on the stock markets forced me to position myself directly. The long position on gold and the short position on the Dow Jones were closed at a loss. Furthermore, one long position on the Nasdaq100 was closed at a profit and one at a loss. A new entry was made on the long side of Brent Crude Oil. Profit-taking took place in the stock trades of Carrier Global and Ameresco, which posted significant profit increases. In addition, three long positions were opened. These included UnitedHealth Group, Ingersoll-Rand and another on the Nasdaq100 tech index. A short position on Volkswagen Vz was also opened.
Planned procedure
This week we can expect a number of important quarterly figures from the largest US companies, the Fed's key interest rate decision and the monthly labor market data from the USA. This is likely to be highly volatile and price in a high degree of risk. This week I will largely hold back on short-term trades lasting several days. If trades are taken, they will be set over a longer trading period in order to avoid the high short-term volatility. What I can also imagine is only carrying out trades over a few hours. Overall, I am also on the lookout for short opportunities in the Dow Jones and Nasdaq100. To do this, I would like to use the current recovery to take medium-term short positions that can certainly be held into the autumn and thus over the weak seasonal phase.
In addition to the blog that is actively maintained here, my information portal Investment.Traders contains other exciting articles, detailed stock analyses, presentations of various investment opportunities and a weekly update in video form. This is my contribution to financial education in Germany.
