Trading Depot Overview - My experiences from the last trading week KW23
Depot Review
Last week was also very volatile. The ECB interest rate decision and the monthly US labor market data caused enormous volatility. In view of this, it was relatively quiet in the portfolio. Compared to the previous week, the portfolio performance including all book gains and losses changed by a marginal 0.03%. The current performance since December 1, 2023 is therefore 40.12%.
Executed Trades
The Shell position taken in week 21 was stopped out, which was partly due to the sharp downward reaction in the oil price - a loss was incurred here. I liked the silver price very much on Tuesday, so I positioned myself long with a relatively wide stop loss in order to be able to withstand the high volatility this week. Nevertheless, the position was stopped out again on Friday just below the purchase price.
The DWS position was also stopped out and generated a loss. The trading idea with new dynamic record levels before the massive dividend payout did not work - nor did the fact that market participants bought this share on the ex-dividend day.
Finally, the long position on coffee was closed with an adjusted stop loss. As usual, volatile at harvest time, there would have been further upside potential. From a chart perspective, my goal here was to secure profits and not take any more risks.
Planned procedure
In the coming trading week, my trading strategy will involve gradually making stop loss adjustments to long positions in order to protect myself from a short-term trend shift to the downside on the financial market. As a result, I will initially be focusing more on opening short positions. I really like the McCormick and Steel Dynamics stocks, as well as the CAC40 and Dow Jones indices. Overall, I would like to turn the current long bias in my portfolio into a short bias.
In addition to the blog that is actively maintained here, my information portal Investment.Traders contains other exciting articles, detailed stock analyses, presentations of various investment opportunities and a weekly update in video form. This is my contribution to financial education in Germany.
